5 Reasons These Odd Little Fish Are The Smartest Treat For Your Cat
Most cat treats come with a paragraph of ingredients. These come with a fish. Here is why that matters.
They look a bit strange. A whole tiny fish, straight from the bag. But once you know what is in them, and what is not, they start to make a lot of sense. Here are the five reasons why.
1. The crunch is the point.
Each minnow is a whole, crunchy little fish, and cats are built to bite, crunch and chew their food. Instead of a pressed nugget that is gone in a second, she gets something to work on. For plenty of cats it is the closest thing to catching their own.
2. Whole fish means the bones come too.
The tiny bones in a whole minnow are a natural source of calcium and phosphorus, the same minerals a cat would get from catching and eating small prey. It is a whole fish, head to tail, not a fillet.
3. Naturally rich in omega-3s
Fish is one of the best-known natural sources of omega-3 fatty acids, the same ones owners give their cats fish oil for, to support healthy skin and a good coat. These deliver them the way nature packaged them, inside a whole fish, with no capsule or pump bottle to deal with.
4. Protein first, with nothing to dilute it
Cats are carnivores, built to get their nutrition from animal protein, and this treat is made of exactly that. No grain, no added sugar, no added carbs, because there is nothing in the bag but fish. A treat that fits how a carnivore is built, instead of working around it.
5. One ingredient. Four seconds to read
Turn the bag over. The ingredient list is one word: minnows. No mystery by-products, no flavourings, no colours, nothing you need to google. If reading a treat label has ever left you feeling quietly guilty, this is the one that goes quiet.
